Police arrested an elderly man Monday afternoon on suspicion of first degree assault.
At 5:13 p.m., officers responded to the 16-500 block of the Old Volcano Highway in Keaau for a report of a man who stabbed another man in the leg with a knife. The pair were recent acquaintances who got into an argument which precipitated the assault. The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
At 5:24 p.m., the suspect, who refused to identify himself to police, was arrested at the scene without incident. He’s being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continue to investigate.
